Saudi health minister wins Medical Personality award

Dubai, 28 Muharram 1434/ 12 December 2012 (IINA) – Saudi Arabia’s Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah was awarded Monday Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences for outstanding medical personalities in the Arab world. The award, which came in recognition of Al-Rabeeah's acclaimed healthcare services and medical achievements, was presented at the 7th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences in Dubai.
Renowned worldwide as a successful surgeon for the separation of conjoined twins, Al-Rabeeah has successfully separated conjoined twins from various countries such as Poland, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “I am happy with this honor, and i think it does not represent me as a person but it represents all the people working in the health care sector in Saudi Arabia, the Arab Gulf and the Arabic world as whole. This will be an incentive for more medical achievements,” Rabeeah told Al Arabiya television.
From supporting Human Genetic sciences and scientific research, to encouraging medical scholarship and education, the award for the past 14 years has succeeded in recognizing excellence in medical achievements in the Middle East and throughout the world. The award for Medical Sciences is granted for eminent figures who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of medical science in the Arab region
